Nintendo Wii versus Other Consoles

By: J.Morgan

Nintendo Wii battling other consoles is one of the most interesting wars in the video game industry ever to take place. To get a clearer idea of how Nintendo Wii fares when pitted against other consoles you have to see the comparisons with Microsoft Xbox 360 and the Sony Playstation 3.

The Xbox 360 has a dedicated base of loyal fans that have built up its reputation but not everybody is comfortable with it. For instance, Halo which is one of the most popular games for Xbox360 is rated M for mature players only. Many other games in this system have the mature rating and that is why it did not turn out as popular as it was supposed to.

Playstation 3 is one of the most impressive video game consoles around. It is quite powerful and has been marketed as one of the cheapest Blu Ray Disc players available. Despite this fact it does not get the attention of the gamers the way Nintendo Wii does. In spite of its excellent qualities and performance it is lacking in some areas and is a bit too expensive.

In fact when you purchase games for this system you will find that most of them have a rating of M or T. Very few games have the rating E meant for everyone. On the other hand with Nintendo Wii there are quite a lot of games meant for all. So there are only a small percentage of gamers for which the games have been designed in Playstation 3.

Everyone in the gaming universe agrees that Nintendo Wii is quite a big success which was not expected. Wii has specially designed features which allow the gamer much more control and thus involves him into the game more than other consoles. Another reason is simply that the games designed for Wii are popular for most age groups – from the very young to their grandparents.

It has a high degree of compatibility – you can use all your older Nintendo games with the new Wii console. After all only Nintendo provides access to your favorite Mario Brothers, Zelda or Donkey Kong. All these games are rated E for everyone.

Nintendo Wii is very easy to set up. It is user friendly and takes minimum time to learn and master. This is a serious advantage because if the game is complicated to figure out the users tend to get bored and aggravated and will not use the console for long. On the top of that it is reasonably priced. With a number of features at half the price of other consoles, no wonder it is a market topper.

The worldwide success of the Nintendo Wii has caught all the third party developers by surprise who eventually apologized for the quality of their previous games. So the only story out is the story of this console's massive success and popularity in all the age categories. Nintendo is here to stay and for a long time!
